Life at IITB

On August 27th I sent an email to my friend describing life here in IITB
This is part of it.
...
Its usual fun here !
We had wing treat tonight [i.e. two persons gave all wing mates treat!]
We went to HiraNandani [HN] you might have heard about it.
[ Gumshuda from Chalte Chalte, What is mobile no. and many more songs scenes were taken in HN] , We ate "Naturals" ice cream.
They taste like Heaven !

Last night we had MATKI FOD [or in marathi DAHI HANDI] in our hostel.
According to the great Hostel 3 tradition we, freshers, were supposed to, and we did, MATKI FOD.
It was great fun man! forming circles and then other light weight people standing on them.
As usual I was co-ordinating the GOPALs, instructing them how to stand, how to climb.
I learned a lot from it, improved my leadership skills.

Today in morning I attended a competition AMPLIFIED.
As the name suggests it was On The Spot[OTS] circuit designing and making.
Topic was OP AMP of which I didnt know anything but just one fact.
Some 2 weeks ago I attended ELECTRIFIED Workshop where we were taught basics of Electronics
There I learned OP AMP as COMPARATOR, and today's problem was to construct SQUARE WAVE from single 15 V DC supply using 741 and other usual things like resistors and capasitors.
It was great experience, and I learned a lot of Electronics from it.
We [group of two, my room mate Zubin Mehta and myself] managed to come 5th [winners were first three who received MICRO CONTROLLER Kits]

We have Quiz almost every week [usually on Wednesday]
This week it is Physics.
Last week it was Maths.
Aand last to last was Chemistry.
My Grades [we have grade system here not Mark Distribution system] are not yet declared.
But I hope to get decent grade.[hopefully Average +]
I am learning a lot about Quanto [Quantum Physics/Chemistry/Mechanics everything related to Quantum]
Rite now I am reading "Surely You Are Joking Mr. Feynman!" book which is about the great scientist Richard Feynman and covers his analysis of Quanto [not totally scientific but concepts] and his life.
Its a must read book.
You can skip the Quanto part and discover a lot about Feynman, truly a Magician

"There are two types of genius. Ordinary geniuses do great things, but they leave you room to believe that you could do the same if only you worked hard enough. Then there are magicians, and you can have no idea how they do it. Feynman was a Magician"

- Hans Beth, Theoretical physicist and Nobel laureate

So keep in touch my dear friend,
-Sudarshan
[aka Sudhi]
